Do Diets Really work?
Yes we can say that diets help us for a specific short period of time to detoxify our bodies (I will talk about that later). Unfortunately, in the long run they can be horrible for our health.
“Eat what you Don’t want to eat and Stop eating what you Do want to eat”.
Diets do make a good effort and can be good for a short “reboot” but often fall short.
- They tell us to eat better..
- They educate us a bit on what is good and bad.
- What to eat and what not to.. “do’s and don’ts”
- Useful to lose weight for a period of time.
- Helps reboot our body and get control of sugar cravings.
You may lose a bit of weight, but in the end you often return to the weight and condition you once were, and sometimes worse. We say: “I can’t wait to finish this diet so I can have my pop and pizza again!” aka: Sugar and grease…
Here are some very good reasons why diets can cause more harm than good to us. We begin with sugar.

Diets don’t work because we are addicted to sugar.
Research has shown that sugar acts on a chemical called Dopamine in our brain. It has a similar trigger reaction as cocaine!! It gives us the “good feelings” pleasure and happiness.
This leads to the addiction that needs to be fulfilled by having more and more and is never satisfied. Would you give ourselves or your children cocaine? Parents, you can see how sugar affects you and your children without question but we joke and call it a “sugar high”…
Yes, we do need sugar for our neurotransmitters and cells to work properly in the brain. We get it through carbs that break down to create energy. However, we eat WAY too much and we eat the Wrong kind. The work of this is in obesity, diabetes and high blood pressure to name a few. These lead to a host of chronic conditions.
Sugar is in everything and we are addicted to it! Also, we need to get back to eating food in its natural state. Sugar is included in that. Our diet is processed, modified and refined sugar that is killing our body.
There is no way we can trade our bag of chips and bottle of coke for a hand full of carrots and a glass of water.
Our diet may last a few days but we will always return to the junk we love. Sugar has us addicted. We can’t wait for the first day off our diet so that we can order the biggest plate of sugar and grease! Sound Familiar???
Diets don’t work because they can often harm your body.
Your body is not used to such a dramatic change from off and on eating restrictions. (Ie: Carbs – no carbs.. lots of fat – no fat). We see the immediate evidence from going on and off a diet in – headaches, stomach pain, constipation, diarrhea and vomiting.
Your body is trying to tell you that something is wrong, but we are very quick to brush these “warning signs” off as nothing. (Not to mention, letting these signs continue on or masking them with medications will have a big impact on the long-term health of our organs).
You need to be consistent in what you eat. Bring your body back to its natural healthy state by eating what your body is made to eat. Gradually start good habits and the bad will die out! A good consistent balance and not off and on extreme restrictions.
A good consistent balance and not off and on extreme restrictions.

Diets don’t work because most are a money scam.
People will try anything and believe anything to lose weight quick. You can rest assured that your body wants to be healthy. The body wants to get back to its original healthy state. This is called homeostasis. Your body will heal its-self. You just need to give it what it needs to be able to do it. You most often do not need a restrictive diet to accomplish this.
Diets don’t work because you ultimately want freedom and not restrictions.
You want to eat whatever you want, when you want. And that stems from what you crave and what you crave comes from what you are addicted to. They control us. Following strict checklists and calorie counting does not last. Life is too busy and gets in the way. Dieting is impossible for the best of us. So don’t fall into the “New fad”. Please.
What we crave comes from what we are addicted to.
Then what should we do?
There is and always has been only one way to eat. We have moved far from it by replacing what we know to be true for a lie. Brainwashed. You know what food is healthy to eat, but you choose not to eat it because you are addicted to fake food. And you think going on a diet will be the quick and easy answer.
